My studio is in Lelant, near St Ives, Cornwall. I work in a converted barn, part of our home which historically was one of three farms in the village. All my pots are made on traditional Leach style kick wheels, I love the rhythm they bring to the form and the control when making large pieces. I have two distinct styles, the first being intricately decorated high fired earthenware. The decoration style is drawn from my environment, and influenced by Portuguese and Asian styles, I'm fascinated by the local marine life, fish feature strongly! My second style is more traditional stoneware fired in a gas kiln using light reduction. All the materials in my stoneware pieces come out of the ground in Cornwall, and I also use wood ash from our stove.
